Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum)
is a small evergreen tree from the Lauraceae family
and is originally from Sri Lanka.


Cinnamon's unique healing abilities come from three types of components in the essential oils found in its bark. These oils contain active components called cinnamaldehyde, cinnamyl acetate, and cinnamyl alcohol, plus a wide range of other volatile substances.

It is a well known remedy in Traditional Chinese Medicine (T.C.M.) and is used for its warming qualities. Cinnamon is used to provide relief from the onset of a cold or flu virus when brewed in a tea with fresh ginger. Inhaling the steam vapours of cinnamon oil can be helpful in relieving sinus infections.


It has antimicrobial and antifungal properties and has been used to treat digestive problems including diarrhea It has a reputation to help ease the symptoms of I.B.S.Irritable bowel syndrome, both constipation or diarrhea types. it's helpful in the treatment of yeast type infections like Candida Albicans. Cinnamon has shown an amazing ability to stop medication-resistant yeast infections.

These studies have already shown that the compounds contained in cinnamon can stimulate insulin receptors and also inhibit an enzyme that inactivates them, so significantly increasing the cells'ability to use glucose, thus normalizing blood sugar levels. Half a teaspoon per day of cinnamon has been shown to reduce blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes.

Patients in Copenhagen taking half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder mixed with one tablespoon of honey every morning before breakfast were found to have significant relief in arthritis pain after one week and could walk without pain within one month
